Green Mountain Discontinues Kona K-Cups

Due to an industry wide shortage of Kona coffee beans, Green Mountain has ceased production of all Kona blend k-cups. This affects only four k-cups sold by CoffeeKing.com; Green Mountain’s own 10% Kona Blend Extra Bold K-Cups, Timothy’s Kona Blend K-Cups, Tully’s Kona Blend K-Cups and Coffee People’s Kona Blend K-Cups. All other K-Cups are unaffected by the shortage of Kona coffee beans.

As detailed on konacoffeeroasting.com, the shortage of Kona coffee beans can be attributed to a quarantine on the big island of Hawaii due to infestation of the Coffee Berry Borer Beetle. The quarantine only affects the big island, but still has a significant impact on the output of Kona coffee beans. On espressocoffeeguide.com you can find more information about the Coffee Berry Borer then you probably want to know.

Unfortunately, due to the exclusive characteristics of Kona coffee, it is difficult for us to recommend an alternative K-Cup if you are true Kona K-cup fan. There are a number of other medium roast K-Cups available on CoffeeKing.com. Perhaps one of these selection will meet your needs until the Kona quarantine is lifted and full production returns.
